Sponsorship Levels and Benefits

Justice in Aging 2019 LA Sponsorship Levels

Celebrate Justice in Aging!

Jennie Chin Hansen received the Paul Nathanson Distinguished Advocate Award. Jennie is perhaps best known for her pioneering advocacy at San Francisco’s On Lok, the nation’s first PACE program, but her lifetime of leadership at organizations like AARP and the American Geriatrics Society has changed the landscape of care for older adults and aging advocacy.

William Stern and the law firm Morrison & Foerster received the Justice Award for the firm’s pro-bono work on the Hart v. Colvin class action lawsuit which is bringing relief to thousands of Bay Area residents who were unjustly denied disability benefits.

California State Senator Scott Wiener was honored with Justice in Aging’s Impact Award for his work on behalf of LGBT older adults and to ensure more affordable housing options for seniors and others across the state.

On October 3, 2017 we hosted a special event celebrating Justice in Aging’s 45th year fighting senior poverty through law. We honored Senator Ron Wyden with an Impact Award for his lifetime of work on behalf of older adults across the country. Thank you for celebrating with us! Scroll down for videos and photos from the event.

Dignity for All: Ensuring Economic Security as America Ages

On Tuesday, November 15, we hosted a forum focused on how advocates and policy makers can work together to address the health and economic security issues affecting older adults. At Dignity For All: Ensuring Economic Security as America Ages, three panels of academics, advocates, and service providers shared data, stories, and policy recommendations to raise awareness of the issue of senior poverty and inspire action to improve the health and economic security of older adults.

For those of you who were able to attend: thank you! It was truly inspiring to see so many wonderful partners there, feel the energy in the room, and listen to our speakers provide stats, stories, and a path forward for all of us who work in the aging space. A special highlight was hearing from Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) about her commitment to fighting for America’s seniors.

We hosted three panels:

Panel 1—Understanding Low-Income Older Adults through Research and Data (Panel 1 slides)

  • Moderator: Emily Allen, AARP Foundation
  • Tricia Neuman, Kaiser Family Foundation
  • Steve Wallace, University of California, Los Angeles
  • Monique Morrissey, Economic Policy Institute

Panel 2—Providing Critical Services for Low-Income Seniors (Panel 2 slides)

  • Moderator: Jennifer Goldberg, Justice in Aging
  • Corinne Jan, Family Bridges
  • Peter Travitsky, New York Legal Assistance Group
  • Imani Woody, Mary’s House for Older Adults

Panel 3—Advocating to Improve Seniors’ Health and Economic Security

  • Moderator: Kevin Prindiville, Justice in Aging
  • Tracey Gronniger, Justice in Aging
  • Bill Rivera, AARP Foundation
  • Rebecca Vallas, Center for American Progress

ATTEND VIRTUALLY

We are grateful for Borchard Foundation Center on Law and Aging’s support for this important forum.
